Once students have completed Levels 1 and 2 they may choose to apply for the Level 3 Independent Studies program.

In Level 3 the most important aspect is student portfolio development. The portfolio is uniquely based on individual student needs. For example if a student wanted to concentrate in graphic design they would then be given projects that concentrated on just that,  graphic design. If they wanted to be an animator then the projects would concentrate on animation and so on.

Students will work together with the instructor as a team to get the portfolio ready for a career or college.

Students will also be expected to act as a mentor for Level 2 students. The reason for this being that in the field or in college, you would be expected to be passionate about what it is you do both in work and outside. With that passion should also come leadership.

Leadership in Level 3 also involves being a member and participant in SkillsUSA. SkillsUSA offers many benefits including, field trips, leadership opportunities, and competition.

Prior to the application for Level 3 students will inform the instructor of their intent who will then forward that intent to the CAT-S advising/admissions office.
